Most people spend a day or two in Darjeeling on their way to somewhere else. Leela and I stayed for 10 days, which gave us a chance to explore.
    The heyday of Darjeeling may have been in the 1930s, but we loved it and could easily live there. Although it may be in the Himalayan foothills, it rarely drops below freezing, which makes it not much colder than Hong Kong, where we live.
