At the bottom of the staircase, just outside the door leading to our villa's outdoor lounge area, is a small pool fed by this waterfall. That's where our frog lives. Sometimes he rests behind the wall so you have to squat down to see him, but mostly he's there to greet us whenever we return. It was Villa 15 and he was there all five days that we were, so perhaps you'll see him the next time you're there. |
I've slept on waterbeds with satin sheets, on air mattresses floating on calm ponds, on plump futons laid on grass-covered tatami, and on Yucatan matrimonial hammocks hung from high oak beams, but never have I slept better than on a Four Seasons bed.
I didn't ask for the details of their construction but it appears that they start with a wonderful mattress and top it with a layer of batting with the consistency of meringue. Then they cover it to protect their secret and add sensual sheets and coverlets.
And their pillows? They're huge with a perfect balance between softness and firmness. They're huge but your heads sinks in just the right amount for perfect sleeping. They're huge and... zzzzzzz. |

Where was I? Oh, yes, headed for the bathroom after a quick nap to splash some cold water on my face. I love anything that gets you wet and leaves you warm and when there's a whole room devoted to it, plus a plunge pool outdoors, I'm in heaven. We begin with an all-glass shower with wall-mounted shower head and hand-held shower attachment (which you can position on its adjustable pole and adjust the water volume so that both are spraying you at the same time). Off to a good start here. |
| Then into the tub. In the ideal world, bathing shouldn't be a solitary pleasure and this double-ended, built-in tub fits all the requirements for a great bath. The water flows in discreetly from the side. There is ample flat space at either end for a rolled-up towel beneath your head and storage space for your bath salts and books. Vertical wood blinds let you regulate the amount of view or seclusion you'd like. And when you've finished playing, there are more towels than you could ever use (but give it a try, anyway). |

Outside, you can get wet and close to nature at the same time in the garden shower. Or one of you can use the glass shower and the other the outdoor shower. Or the outdoor shower and the tub. Whatever. I'm sure you can figure out the possibilities for yourself and they're all pleasurable. With room service only a phone call away, you could stay damp and happy for days. |
| With so many possibilities, you may get giddy enough to start fooling around with the camera. If you must, break out the tripod and take a shot of the two of you in the mirror at the far end of your closet. When you've finished indulging yourself, we'll go outside for a drink on the terrace... |
